Today about 600 dogs live in shelter “PIF”. Many of them need medical care. Shelter is grateful for any help. Dogs-invalids also dream about their owner. May be it’s you who will be able to give them love and warmth of home comfort.

Barsik was driven to the shelter by an old woman when he was 1,5 years. She fed him with mixed fodder as piglets but he needed meat, there must be much albumen in the ration of such large dogs. It resulted in deformation of bones. Now Barsik is 4, he lives in the shelter, suffers from eczema heavily yielding to treatment and does not trust women...

The owner of Karat became ill with the lungs cancer, she was often in a hospital and no longer could take care of a dog. Family of hostess's son is categorically against a dog. According to the fact that Karat was not visited for a long time, maybe his owner has already passed away...
Karat is 10, he is fully blind...

Labrador Boris was left by owners after amputation of a paw. They did not need an invalid. For some reason Boris does not love children very much, so a family with little children will hardly suit him. He is an active fellow, he likes to run, and he does it not worse than his friends with 4 paws do.

Lapka is 5, she got into the shelter due to a volunteer. She had a trauma, probably she was hit by a car. Besides, she had five puppies. Being ill, she was feeding them. We tried to save her paw but the attempt was not successful.

A dog Busya got into shelter in February, 2010. Six months before that volunteer Helen saw her not far from the house with a terrible wound on the paw. A dog succeeded to be caught only in March. As appeared, it is a wrong accrete difficult break. It is clear that it was already impossible to recover the functions of a paw but we tried to avoid amputation... Unfortunately we had to do it…Yesterday in Greta there was done an operation- high amputation of a paw and there was conducted sterilization.
It is Busya 3 weeks ago in the shelter, yet with a sick paw

It's Busya after being operated on.

Busya, May, 2010.

An old boxer Babusya had cataract. Approximately three years ago in winter night she was tied to the gate of the shelter. In the morning she was found frozen, almost without consciousness by an employee of the shelter after having heard quiet moans under a gate. She was terribly exhausted. When she was examined in a hospital, she was said to be coupled every time and when she had become old she was simply got rid of.
This winter Babusya has died.

And here' s the story of a collie Kolya :
The director of the shelter Victoria found Kolya on a quarantine territory by chance. There were not open-air cages yet. She entered a dark hangar and heard some fuss in a corner. She came nearer and found Kolya lying there. He was dirty, thin, fully staggered by skin illness, he couldn't even stand on his paws. She looked at him in a flashlight, understood that he was very old and there was an idea that it would be better to put him to sleep than to abandon in such state. But suddenly he stretched her a paw... Victoria took him to the shelter and an old dog rose practically from dead.
He was taken away in such condition

Kolya limps slightly on a back paw, he is old but he likes to give a paw very much and to lie on the sun:)))

The story of appearance of Rudi in the shelter is short and sad. He was brought to the shelter by owners who had struck on him with their car and had squashed his paw. When they were told that the paw could not be recovered they left him.
By the way Rudi is not absolutely embarrassed by his paw which does not function.

According to eye-witnesses some teenagers had injured Dusya`s leg with a steel tube. She was brought to the shelter with a gangrene, therefore we had to amputate her leg. Lack of one leg is more than compensated for by tender and calm nature, she is such a mollycoddle.
This is Dusya in the clinic after surgery.

This is Dusya in the shelter.

This winter Dusya was taken to a private enterprise for guarding it.

Lusya and Rizhik were taken by Viktoriya two years ago from a woman who was ill with the last stage of cancer. Last year this woman passed away…

Lusya is about eight . When she was being operated (amputation of the leg) her heart stopped beating, so the veterinary surgeon did everything in his power for raising her from the dead. And her toes were amputated later under local anaesthetic. The thing is when Lusya lived with her former owner she was hit by a car but she was not given a veterinary care before the shelter.

Rizhik's eye was removed as an inflammation had started there. Last winter Rizhik passed away. He was seventeen. He died sleeping. Probably, his heart stopped functioning…

Lyalya had been lame for about six months meeting and seeing off people on the bus-stop in the morning and in the evening. When the volunteer of the shelter found her, her leg was in a terrible condition. Lyalya had an open fracture of long standing of her foreleg, bones were splintered, tissues were decayed. But Lyalya survived, furthermore, she raised puppies.

Lyalya underwent an operation of amputation of her leg.

Now this brave doggie lives in the shelter.

Nobody knows who injured her and how. Rosa had been wandering about the streets for a long time dragging her foreleg until she was hit by a car. Then she was taken up by a volunteer of the shelter. After examination the veterinarians explained that such a trauma (the leg was pulled up up-side and sideways) could be given most probably by a man. Unfortunately we did not manage to save the leg as it was old trauma of glenohumeral joint and everything was wrenched apart there. Rosa underwent a high amputation. Rosa was very frightened, she was keeping close to the corners of the room so there was nothing else left for us to do but to guess what this inoffensive creature had to endure in her short life. Today Rosa lives in the shelter. We don't lose hope to find a man who can give refuge to Rose, who can give her a forever loving home that she so desperately needs and deserves.
This is Rosa before operation.

Rosa is after amputation.

Rosa is waiting for her new owner.
